There is much to be said for subtly, for nuance and appreciating the quiet and unassuming. But there’s also a great deal to recommend the outrageous, the splendid, the catch-your-breath wonderful.

I like to take the floor and speak words that people can relate to hopefully with some wisdom included. That is hard without notes or planning. I can tell my own story to a group that I basically trust without notes but gaining that trust is slow and hard.
