The Gift of Touch

One of the many gifts our furry companions give us is that of touch—the primal pleasure of physical contact with a soft, warm, breathing body. Of course, the gift or touch can also come from flannel sheets, cozy bathrobes, hot baths or a favorite soft shirt.

  1. I like a good firm handshake. As I extend my hand, I always hope for that exchange of strength which can occur. Of course, gentle strokes are lovely but the transfer of strength between two humans can be just what I need as an introduction or a renewal in friendship with another human. As a side bar, once the President of a local university refused to shake because she said, “I shake so many hands that I, as a trained scientist, know of all the germs that can be passed along” (I forgave her, of course!)
