Out of the Dust

Stars coalesce out of clouds of dust, which is an interesting parallel to the Bible story of humans being created from the dust of the earth. Apparently, we humans know at some deep level that the grandest things are made possible by the most seemingly insignificant.

What have you done lately that might build toward something greater?

  1. I am studying about different spiritual religious groups that I have known little about before. I have the opportunity to find out about the beliefs of Islam from a young Islamic student who is living in my basement area and studying at the nearby university. I ask him and he is willing to tell me of the extensive knowledge of his beliefs; I have learned much. In addition, I use the Old Farmer’s Almanac daily and there are references to Catholic Saint Days at times so I look them up in my tattered copy of LIVES OF THE SAINTS, edited by a British author. I have realized the works accomplished by them, both male and female, during the past centuries and in different lands. I now recognize the labors that they accomplished. My knowledge of other religions has broadened considerably and will enrich my life even though it does not challenge my UU devotion.
