Growing Up

“When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability…. To be alive is to be vulnerable.”
―Madeleine L’Engle

What aspect of your life feels more vulnerable now than it did when you were younger?

  1. I know of Madeleine L”Engle’s writing since she wrote for both youth and adult. I admire her works. Ae s child, I never really thought that being sick was a big deal. I went though the round of measles, chicken pox, mumps, whooping cough and just remember the discomforts but also the pleasures of staying in bed all day, and being waited on. How different I feel now, being responsible as an adult for medical decisions and purposefully taking medicines, eating correctly and exercising. Although I understand the benefits, I sometimes just want to be that “little girl” again.
