The Sensuous World

“We experience the sensuous world only by rendering ourselves vulnerable to that world. Sensory perception is this ongoing interweavement: the terrain enters into us only to the extent that we allow ourselves to be taken up within that terrain.”
―David Abram

  1. For me the visual experience is the most vital (followed by the audio). I enjoy seeing obvious as well as the unusual ways that the environmental as well as the human designed world unfolds its surprises and mysteries. I am an artist and sometimes translate this into a graphic response; Croce, the Italian philosopher, says that even though a visual idea only “seen” inside oneself still represents an artistic reality; I have questioned this for years. However, I now realize that this is perhaps happening for me.
