Summer Solstice

We know very little of how the Stonehenge structure was used—only that ancient people put in the incredible effort needed to set massive stones to frame the rising sun on the summer solstice. Which is to say that we know that the impulse to connect to something much larger than the self is deeply ingrained in what it means to be human.

How will you mark the summer solstice by connecting to something larger than yourself?

  1. When I look around outside at all of the verdant growth and listen to the natural sounds in the neighborhood, especially at night, and feel the soft breezes wandering through the air, then I recognize that because of the change that may not be happening all of a sudden on June 21, but probably gradually, that the world around me is changing subtly into its summer mode and I welcome it.
