Most people, it seems, regard taxes as a necessary evil at best, and a form of robbery at worst. But surely there is something to celebrate about the fact that we all band together to buy things that none of us could afford on our own, like roads or libraries.
What are you happy to support with your taxes?
Pretty much everything the taxes pay for–infrastructure, emergency services, parks, you name it.
I am grateful for the libraries, schools, infrastructure, and services my taxes pay for. If our taxes also ensured that everyone got the healthcare they needed, I would be extra grateful for that too.
I’m not happy about taxes going to wars or providing arms to people who seem to be our friends now but who may turn on us later.
