Old Ways

A telephone booth may well be the most recent obsolete item of our modern age. You don’t have be all that old to remember the fad of seeing how many people you could stuff in a phone booth, let alone identifying with Clark Kent’s iconic changing station or thriller movies in which the bad guy makes contact via pay phone. In an age where smart phones are the norm, there’s not much point to phone booths taking up room on the sidewalk. But it can be hard to see them go.

What nostalgic, unnecessary thing do you love?

  1. I will (probably, of necessity) miss my land line phone hook up. I prefer to sit down, make a call, answer a message rather than walk around with a little box in my hands on which I can barely see the screen especially outdoors and often hit the wrong tab and end up having to go back and start all over. I know that there are a good number of oldsters (but not all, of course) who find the size and function of cellular phones uncomfortable or not useable for making and receiving phone calls.
    So there!
