On New Year’s Eve it is traditional to create resolutions of how we will be or do better in the year to come. On New Year’s Day it is traditional to break those resolutions. Maybe it would be better to use New Year’s Eve as a time to reflect on what in our lives is ready to open naturally into a new beginning.
What in your life do you feel will be opening soon?
On a sunny day no one needs a lighthouse. But if the lighthouse is not built and maintained on the sunny days, it won’t be present when needed on the stormy nights.

Where do you see growth and hope in spite of all that opposes it?
There are so many ways that we hold out hope that we will be chosen—for a job, by a love interest, for a part in a play, for a promotion at work—and yet it rarely seems appropriate to wave our hands and yell out “Pick me! Pick me!” Sometimes all you can do it just show up and smile.
Who do you hope will notice you?
As mist fills the valley, trees lose their edges and slip toward the world of an Impressionist painting, in which nothing is distinct, but everything is lovely.
What do you prefer when it is ambiguous or unclear?
