Life and Death and Life Again

FormalGarden“For me, gardening is a form of prayer. Most people have an awareness of life and death, but few have an awareness of life, death, and life again. Gardeners do, though.”

What form of prayer gives you an awareness of life being reborn?

  1. When the wild geese fly south in the waning days of Summer, to me it feels like a goodbye. I wonder which of these creatures will return next season. They all seem so strong and determined to follow their own path, and in their handsome “V” formation, and as I understand, changing off in leadership as they fly. While I wait for a flock to return, I wonder what they are experiencing. Then, suddenly, one Spring day there in the sky is the “V” again, returning…perhaps with some new, and lacking some old. It is a kind of rebirth for those of us below and an assurance that the pattern of life goes on.
