Over Time

CaveYou are probably familiar with the idea that, given enough time, water can wear away even solid rock. But it is also true that wonderful structures of stalactites and stalagmites form over the ages because dripping water actually builds up the rock by bringing minerals in drop by drop. Sometimes the things we build come into being so slowly that we can only see what we have done in retrospect.

What have you created bit by bit over a long period of time?

  1. Bit by bit I’ve learned that I can live with both gain and loss. Life has a way of giving a dose of both. at first, I used to think that a certain situation that brought happiness was here to stay; when sadness or a loss came, I was convinced that this was the way life would be forever. Of course, now I know differently. Although I still experience both, I know that neither condition will continue to last forever. In some ways, because of this, I live almost a different level of comfort: one that I understand but without such intensity as I once did.
