Infinity in Your Hand

SnailBeautyTo see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.
—William Blake

What is the most mundane, ordinary thing that you find miraculous?

  1. I find contact lenses amazing, especially the ones I have that correct astigmatism as well as short-sightedness. How do they stay oriented in the right direction? they baffle me, and they work.

  2. A spider web is rather non-nondescript most of the time until it gets in my way and is swooshed to the side as I hurry by. Yet … sometimes a web can stop me in my tracks as light casted upon it at a certain angle reveals the geometric design laden under the morning dew or ice. Then I cannot help but gasp and drink in the awesome sight of exalted creative power coming out of an otherwise lowly spider!

  3. A small thing in our lives but so important, I think….a rubber band. Without it we would be hard put to organize and hold like things together, In fact, I’m the kind of doubting “Thomasina” that uses two, when available, so that if one breaks, the other will continue to serve.
