One thought on “Surprise”

  1. Surprises take one “by surprise”, definitely. Joy… or anger …or frustration can result. Since our lives depend to a certain extent on an ordered existence, we expect it to progress in that fashion. Usually, as I reflect, the joys are ones that I always try to respond to with thankfulness and excitement; the unexpected ones that I wish hadn’t happened are ones that seem to require me to make a much more reserved response or none at al… just acceptance. Perhaps it might be healthier to consider allowing myself to adapt to unhappy surprises in honest responses as well as the usual responses to the joyful ones.
