A pod is the perfect home for a pea—cozy and tailor-made to exactly the right size and shape. Until the time for that perfect home passes, and the pod splits, allowing the pea to fall out and grow into a plant on its own.
When have you given up a comfortable place of belonging in order to become something more?
My family and I recently relocated to a new city on the opposite end of the state we have lived in our entire lives. The move was to further my career, but we left the comforts of familiarity and routine behind. This has been a challenging move, but we know we will grow immensely because of it.
Leaving the familiar sometimes means discomfort but at other time can provide opportunities that are unknown but perhaps joyful. When I joined the Peace Corps in the 60s I had very little idea of where I was going or what I would be doing. The result became one of the life changing elements of my life and I have never regretted it.
