Mourning Dove

MourningDoveThe mourning dove is known for his plaintive song: Oo-wah-hooo, hoo-hoo. Maybe the dove himself is feeling perfectly cheerful, but there’s still something to be said for the feeling of release that comes from singing very sad songs at the top of your lungs.

What sad songs make you feel better when you sing them?

  1. I like to sing Old Blue. my favorite version is by the late Sam Hinton. the chickens quick, all come up close and just stair at me.

  2. “History” by The Verve.
“…I’ve got to tell you my tale
Of how I loved and how I failed
    I hope you understand
These feelings should not be in the man…”

“Don’t Go Away” and “Wonderwall” by Oasis

But I also sing along with the happier Oasis songs that keep me going, like “Live Forever” and “Whatever” .

  3. Sad songs? Well, I listen to them as well as to sad classic orchestral pieces. I think first of why the composer used the style to use as expression . However, after this I release myself to identify slow, soft, sad feelings of memories that I sometimes am not in the habit of expressing. It certainly is part of living to feel sad or glad!
My “sad song to sing” is sometimes a quick rendition of “Oh, Susanna..”.
