Lost and Found

PinkGloveHaven’t you done it? Picked up a glove or a hat or a baby sock that you found on the street and placed it in some visible, clean location in hopes that the owner will come back for it? You don’t know who lost the item, you don’t know if they’ll return for it, but doesn’t it feel better to take some little step in hopes that what was lost might again be found?

What small action have you taken lately on behalf of a stranger?

  1. We recently relocated my grandmother to a new assisted living facility and discovered she desperately needed new bras. My mom went out and bought several for her to try. Only one was “like she was used to”. My frustrated mom and I scoured the stores close to each of us for a few more of the same one with little luck. I went online and found the style was in stock in a nearby town, so I trekked up there. (I could have ordered them online, but that presented other problems). In the store, I overheard another customer asking a store employee (big box store) for “simple, basic, bras”. The employee was no help to her. I couldn’t see her, but simply called out, “There are some like that over here”. Turns out, she was in the same boat, trying to buy for her mom in an assisted living facility. It took little effort to help someone out and it created a positive connection that made my day. I hope it made hers too.
