Passover

SONY DSCPassover honors the exodus of the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt, their choice to leave the terrible known for the sake of the terrible unknown.

What have you walked away from, choosing to enter into the terrible unknown?

  1. – Refusing induction into the U.S. Armed Forces
    – Getting married
    – Having a child (1)
    All of the above ‘worked’
Things I was never nervous about:
    – Going to summer camp for 2 weeks, Bakersfield CA to Santa Cruz. Turned into 4 weeks
    – Going CA to Ohio for college where worked somewhere in USA for 3 months every 3 months over 5 years

  2. The unknown is not necessarily terrible – it is simply unknown, and there is the possibility that it might be very good, rewarding, exciting, possibly calm and peaceful, or perhaps dreary and dull. Any of these would be better than the certainty of the terrible known. In more modern times, slaves who left the terrible known of plantation slavery in the American South were traveling toward the unknown, but always with the hope that it would be better than their lives as slaves.
