March, they say, comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. If you’ve ever watched a lamb, you know that they go in quite a bouncy fashion, with a great deal of “spring” in their step.
What puts spring in your step these days?
In the process from plant to flour, the miller must separate the wheat kernel from the chaff—the outer husk of the grain. It turns out that a lot of life experiences are the same way—it takes some effort to winnow the part that will feed you from the husk that you first see.
What chaff is standing in the way of your enjoying a grain of truth or meaning?
It’s incredibly annoying to be told to smile when you don’t feel like it; nobody has the right to tell you how to feel. On the other hand, scientists have discovered that even putting your lips into the shape of a smile by holding a pencil between your teeth will put you in a more positive frame of mind. So…you know…if you felt like it…you could give smiling a try.
